7º C - LAYANE'S DREAM PET

I wish I had a puppy called Priscilla. I would like to have a black and white Chihuahua. If I had a chihuaha, I would always get up early in the morning to take her for a walk after giving her a bath and drying her hair. My mother would feed her as I would be at school. She would have a house just for her but she would probably sleep with me in my bed.

THE ENGLISH TEACHER'S PET - WILK

Wilk lives in a detached house with a garden with shrubs and trees where every spring birds build their nests, lay and incubate their eggs, and raise its young. These nests are built by blackbirds. Although the main predator of the blackbird is the domestic cat, every spring when I come back home, I find one or two dead birdies which Wilk has caught in the air while they were learning how to fly. On these occasions I call him «bad dog», and he seems quite ashamed of his act, because his ears - always standing erect - lay back flat and low on his head. This spring he hasn’t killed any birdie yet, but one of these days when Wilk and I were taking a long walk through the fields, he ran after a rabbit and bit him to death. I was so angry that I took him immediately back home. When I arrived home, I told my family the story and concluded Wilk was a serial killer. My family was more understanding, though. Especially my daughters who asked me: «Mami, please, don’t call Wilk «serial killer»; Wilk is just a hunter!» And you, what do you think?

7º C - DIOGO M.'S PET - VITÓRIA

I have a turtle.
I have had this turtle for 10 years and she lives in an aquarium. My turtle is sometimes a little crazy because she wants to jump out of the aquarium. Her name is Vitoria. I give her food everyday and she is happy when she eats. Her colours are green and brown, she has long nails and she tries to bite me when I feed her… But she is a very nice pet. At least, original...

7º C - MAYARA'S PET - BLUTOS

I have a dog. He is three months old. He is black with small brown spots. He is a Rottweiler and his name is Blutos. Rottweilers are used in search and rescue, as guide dogs for the blind, as guard or police dogs. Our Blutos is still too young to make guesses about who he will become. So far all I want is to train and socialize him in order to become a companion dog. I like him very much and we play a lot together. He whines a lot when I’m not around.

7º C - MIGUEL S.'S PET - LUCKY

My cat is called Lucky because he was found in the street. My cousin and I named him Lucky because he really is. He is four years old and he will be five on 10th May. He is fat but he is very beautiful and cute. He likes running when he sees a shadow. He doesn’t like when people run after him. He doesn’t like fish. My grandmother is the one who feeds him because the cat lives in her house. He sleeps in my grandmother’s bedroom.I like him very much!!!

7º C - ELISETE'S PET - SNOWY

My pet’s name is Snowball, his nickname is Snowy. Snowy is three years old.He is small and brown; he has got brown eyes and a very soft fur. He likes strolling through the park and he also likes to eat meat. My father has built a doghouse in the backyard where he sleeps. He is the best dog in the world!

7º C - PATRÍCIA'S PET - ROSSI

My pet is a dog, his name is Rossi and he is a “cocker”. He was born on 9th August in 2005, so he is five years old now. My pet is medium size and has got light brown fur. He has got a short tail and big ears. He likes walking and running in the park. He is very cute and fluffy. I love my dog very much. My parents and I feed him and he likes it. He has got his own house in the balcony and he sleeps there.

7º C - MARIA'S PET - TUFA

My cat’s name is Tufa, he is six months old. He looks like a small tiger. My cat loves running and playing with a doll which has a little bell. The cat likes this noise. He likes eating and sometimes he steals our food. I feed him, and he sleeps in his bed which is in the hall. I love my cat.

7º C - FÁBIO B.'S PET - PATETA

I´m Pateta but everybody calls me Teta. I have got brown eyes, brown and black fur with a white spot on my neck. I'm mean and I like to chase after dogs in the streets. I'm five years old and I’m from Setúbal. Fábio, my owner, is the person who usually feeds me. I usually play a lot with him. I love that!I usually sleep in the kitchen; my house is large because my owners have a nursing home.

7º C - LUCAS - MY DREAM DOG

I wish I had a dog. If I had a pet, I would like to have a Siberian Husky dog with blue eyes and I would call him Bob. I would feed him everyday and take him for walks whenever possible. I would take him to the vet every month. I would buy a small dog house for him to sleep on the balcony. Did you know that Siberian Husky dogs are known to howl rather than bark?

7º A - JOANA M.'S PET - MIA

I have got a female cat and her name is Mia. She is black and white, and she has beautiful green eyes. She is a small one-year-old kitten. She likes playing with balls. When I throw a ball across the room, she runs and gets it. Often, she brings it back to me and we play "fetch". She likes running and jumping. This behaviour mimics hunting and is important in helping kittens learn to stalk and capture prey. However, Mia does not need to worry about preys and food because she is a domestic cat. She is fat because she eats a lot. She loves eating Whiskas. It´s her favourite food. I love her.

7ºA - CATARINA R. 'S PET - TOBIAS

My pet's name is Tobias. He is a male Persian and he’s very cute. Persian cats are longhaired, they have a round face and shortened muzzle. They came from Persia, the former name of Iran. Tobias is two years old and he has got a long and fluffy tail. He has got small, orange eyes and a flat nose. He likes to play with small toys and to sleep in my brother’s bed. He is a lovely cat! But he needs regular grooming to prevent matting. To keep his fur in condition, he is bathed regularly, dried carefully afterwards, and he should be brushed thoroughly every day...

THE ENGLISH TEACHER'S NEIGHBOUR - LOBA

Dear all, this is a sad story. Loba, a lovely back and white Pekingese, has been my neighbour for some years. Loba was particularly funny and nice, because her mistress used to tie her hair with a bow on top of her head, and because her name did not match with the harmless dog she was. Last Sunday my eldest daughter was in the front yard of our house when a man shouted «Oh, damned!». Then she heard a dog whining and bones being smashed. Loba died immediately under the wheels of a car that was driving slowly. The reason why I am telling you this story is because I want to teach you a lesson: be aware that this might happen to your dog if you take him for a walk in a street without a LEASH. Never trust your dog. Never boast he is obedient. Never think he is clever enough to escape a car accident. Learn this lesson – TAKE YOUR DOG FOR A WALK ON LEASH!!! SAVE HIS LIFE.

7º A - TIAGO F.' PET - MAX

I’ve never had a real pet friend. We had some birds and fishes but they didn’t live long. So my family decided not to have anymore pets.
Later on we moved to a new house with a garden, and my sister and I started to ask for a pet, although we knew our mother had never wanted to keep a dog or a cat at home. She used to say it was a great responsibility and they didn´t have time enough to take care of a pet.
One day my father went to a farm in order to buy some watermelons. The farmer had seven puppies to offer for free adoption. As a joke the farmer told my father if he bought a watermelon, he would give him a dog. My mother didn’t like the idea at all.
Afterwards we decided to pay the farmer another visit and… it was love at first sight – we all fell in love with a beautiful puppy. We called him Max. Max is a Rhodesian ridgeback. This breed was developed in Southern Africa where it once was used to hunt lions. These dogs were excellent at sniffing out and distracting lions while their masters prepared for the shooting. That is why their breed name in Portuguese is «leão da Rodésia».
Max is only eight month but he already weighs 25 kg. My mother sometimes loses her temper because he gnaws anything from shoes and dolls to bushes and trees. I hope someday he will behave properly…
He is like a member of our family. My sister says our family is Mum and Dad, big brother, her and Max.

7ºA - MAGDA M.'S PET - ZECA

HI! My name is Zeca. My owner is Magda. I am 8 years old (if I were a human, I would be about 64 years old!). I am fat and fluffy. My eyes are brown and my fur is yellow. I am a mongrel. It means my parentage is not exactly known but you can recognize in me some features of a Labrador. I love playing with Magda and she thinks I am a great manipulator but I think I am just a kind helper and an excellent companion. I do a lot of exercise and I work at a factory near my house. How? I cheer up the factory workers.

7ºA - MARGARIDA O. 'S PET - JOANA

My pet is a she-cat. Her name is Joana. I found her in the street and caught her and that’s how she came to my house as a new family member. Once she ran away and we felt so sad because she had disappeared. Fortunately she came back home. She is one year old. She is a small kitten. She has soft grey fur and beautiful big green eyes. She loves playing with her toys, as well as running around and jumping. She loves sunbathing on the window sill. She likes slipping and scratching the sofa. She is very dear, nice, friendly and playful. She loves biscuits, milk and jelly for cats.

Hi Folks and Followers!
Bocagepets is back! Our blog is maintained by the English teacher, Mrs F. S., with the collaboration of students who attend Escola Básica de 2º e 3º Ciclos de Bocage in Setúbal, Portugal.
Once a year we post some entries that show pictures of pets owned by our students as well as a short description of the pet. This school year 7th graders are going to play the main role in the blog by sharing with us pictures, stories and other interesting subjects related to pets. In the end students are going to elect the best picture, the best pet’s name and the best story.
