Our pet is a cat, called Nikita. She has no specific breed as she is a street cat. She has got a very soft and beautiful fur. Her fur is white and grey. Her eyes are light blue. She looks like a white tiger. She is very cute and loves eating biscuits and other treats.

I have a pet. It is a hamster. His name is Ambrose. He is one year old. He is small and black. His fur is soft. He eats peanuts, sunflowers seeds and some other vegetables. He has a cage with a wheel to play.

This is my bitch. Her name is Beca. She is 5 months old. She is very funny and playful. When we send her to bed, she gets very agitated. Whenever I feed her, she jumps on me. She loves to chase leaves flying around. And when she sees someone, she barks a lot and pees on the floor because she is afraid. Well, she is also fond of ripping newspapers.

Hello!This is my dog. Her name is Jenifer, she has got black eyes and light brown hair. She is selfish and she likes to play with toys. Sometimes she tears clothes and then she is grounded. I love my dog.

7º B - NEUZA'S PET - XIQUINHO

Hello, I am Neuza Dias. This is my grandmother's turtle, called Xiquinho. He was caught in Algarve, in Silves, in the field 39 years ago. He loves eating meat, fish, ham among other things. Every day in the morning he goes to the back door of my grandmother and waits for his food. When winter comes he hibernates and he hides in a black bag from the beginning of winter until Spring. It's amazing how an animal that does not transmit any sound is so interesting. My grandmother says he belongs to the family.

7º B MARCO'S AND RICARDO'S PETS - MARIA, CUCA AND PIPOCA

We have got three pets. A rabbit called Maria and two guinea pigs, Cuca and Pipoca. Maria is very cute, her fur is white but it is black in the ears and around the eyes. She has got three little black spots near the tail. She runs around the house very fast and jumps when she plays with us. Cuca’s fur is short, black, auburn and white. She gives us little kisses and she is very a quiet piglet. The second guinea pig is called Pipoca because when she’s happy, she jumps like a popcorn. Pipoca’s fur is white and long. They are all very sweet and funny and get along very well. We love them a lot!

7ºB - LUÍS'S PET - JÚNIOR

This is my pet,Júnior. He is an albino ball python. He has got red eyes and his skin is albino yellow. He is very docile and he does not bite me or anyone since he achieved 30cm length.He lives in an aquarium for snakes in my room. He eats small rats and mice. I have Júnior since he was a baby(2009)and he does not bite me because he is used that I feed him and play with him almost every day.

Hello, this is my cat. Her name is popcorn in English. She is very dear and very sweet. My cat has a round muzzle and her fur is white and grey. Her eyes are large and green. She has got big ears. I adopted her from the woods where she was born.

7ºD - MARIA'S PET - CHICO

When Chico came to my brother's house in June 2012, he was two months old and he was tiny. He has got brown fur, white and black muzzle. He has got a stain in the shape of cat's paw on his head. He is not very fond of toys but he likes balls and sticks. Every time he sees a mop, he begins to bite it. When he sees a dog, he barks loudly. When we leave him alone at home, he likes watching TV. He enjoys taking showers and swimming. On the beach, he likes digging holes in the shade and lying in there. He loves eating rice with duck meat, and he is happy when there are many people at home.

Hello! This is my cat, his name is Simba. He is very playful but very annoying. My cat has a fluffy muzzle, green eyes, big ears, and his fur has stripes of brown and black. He has a long tail, and very sharp claws. He was born on a farm and he is a street cat.

This is my cat. Her name is Lili. She is a Siamese street cat. Her soft fur is cream but she has got brown muzzle and tail. She has got long and white whiskers. She is funny and playful. She enjoys eating fish and biscuits.

BOCAGEPETS – EDITION 2013-14 IS OPEN!!!

Today October 4th Bocagepets is back. It is a very special day: the World Animal Day. It started to be celebrated in Florence, Italy in 1931 at a convention of ecologists. On this day, animal life in all its forms is celebrated, and special events are planned in locations all over the globe. The 4th of October was originally chosen for World Animal Day because it is the feast day of Francis of Assisi, a nature lover and patron saint of animals and the environment. Many churches throughout the world observe the Sunday closest to October the 4th with a Blessing of the Animals.

K-9 UNIT SHOW AT BOCAGE SCHOOL

The Portuguese K-9 Unit has presented an amazing show of dogs trained specifically to assist police officers. . Most of the dogs were German Shepherds; besides them, there was one Rottweiler, one Dutch Shepherd, one Labrador and one São Miguel Cattle Dog. They were all extremely obedient and beautiful. 

These breeds, used to enforce public order, have shown how to chase and hold suspects, how to detain suspects by direct apprehension, how to sniff out drugs and how to protect the officer. They have also presented dexterity exercises, such as: running, jumping obstacles, jumping through rings of fire, going through a tunnel, etc. Thanks to our colleague, Filipa S., teacher of Physical Education, we have got some pictures of the event.
